Let's Discuss Organic Session 4 - Analytical (laboratory) methods which can be used as a tool for the verification of the compliance of the organic production rules.

Join the IFOAM Organics Europe workshop on "Organic Supply Chain Integrity" and learn about analytical methods to detect food fraud, such as fingerprint and isotope testing. Hear from experts in the field, including Saskia Ruth, Bram Miserez and Rick Wolf. Held by Jan Wicher Krol - Chairman of the Interest Group of Certification & Integrity of IFOAM OE at IFOAM Organics Europe, this webinar will focus on Regulation 2018/848. Don't miss the chance to engage with industry professionals, including processors, traders, retailers, control bodies, and more. Register now and discover the next steps in ensuring the integrity of organic products.

The process for organic certification focuses on how the soil, animals, and organic products are managed, rather than specific criteria for the final product. During inspections, the focus is on verifying the operator's organic system, including things like keeping track of inventory and crop rotation plans. While pesticide residue testing is commonly used to verify organic requirements, there are other testing methods available, such as isotope testing, fingerprint methods, and testing the quality and composition of the soil and products. These alternative methods could be used by operators and control bodies to ensure the integrity of their supply chain.
